The third annual Lions recycling event will help residents get rid of metal, white goods, and electronic waste.
THAMESFORD - The Thamesford Lions Club is hosting a free recycling day at the Thamesford Arena this weekend.
They will be collecting metal waste, white goods, batteries, and electronic waste at the arena from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. Lions member Jim Gillespie tells Heart FM this is the third annual Lions sponsored recycling event.
"Last year we converted 54,000 pounds - that was our second year - and the first year we generated 34,000 pounds and that is being diverted from the landfills in a sense; all of this stuff is going to recyclers."
In the past 2 years they have raised over $10,000 and all of the money raised goes directly back into community projects sponsored by the Lions Club. They will be willing to pick up some large items as well - you can pre-arrange a pickup at 519-285-3349. You can find a complete list of all of the acceptable material to bring online here.
