They hoped for 75 but have 86. Woodstock Relay for Life organizers set a goal of 75 registered teams at this year's event, after 68 participated last year. But as of Wednesday morning, 86 teams were signed up. Fundraising Coordinator of the Oxford Canadian Cancer Society Unit, Tracy Piett says they usually budget for 10 members per team, and at this time are just shy of 500 registered participants. She says they'd like to see that number increase before the Relay and encourages others to get involved. Those interested can sign up through their website by clicking here. Piett says after raising $286,000 last year, they hope to hit the $300,000 mark this year. She says "all of the funds raised for Relay for Life go to support research projects funded by the Canadian Cancer Society, prevention programs, support services; giving rides to and from cancer treatments for our clients. The funds go to a very worthy cause". The Relay for Life in Woodstock takes place June 15-16 at CASS.
