PARIS - The 2024 Paris Summer Olympics have officially come to a close.
Team Canada walked away with 27 medals total including nine gold, seven silver bronze. We were ranked 12th in the overall medal standings, while the United States was ranked number one with 126 medals total. They had 40 gold, 44 silver, and 42 bronze.
Swimming star Summer McIntosh and hammer thrower Ethan Katzberg got to carry the Canadian flag during the closing ceremony yesterday. McIntosh won four medals in Paris, including three gold, while Katzberg won gold in the men's hammer throw.
American Tom Cruise made a Mission Impossible-style entrance from the top of the stadium, as Paris handed over the hosting duties for the 2028 Summer Olympics to Los Angeles. This will be the third time the City of Angels has hosted an Olympics, with the last one being in 1984.
