Jon Jutzi grew up in Oxford County and is going to be behind the Braves' bench working with their defence. The Braves are in the middle of pre-season, which wraps up on September 7th.
TAVISTOCK - A former professional hockey player is going to be an assistant coach of the Tavistock Braves.
Tavistock's Jon Jutzi is enjoying his new role working with the team's defence after spending time in the AHL and ECHL.
He says it is going to be an exciting year.
"We feel like we're going to have a strong team this year and I think everyone, from the coaching staff to the managers, everyone's really excited just to get going. It's going to be a big year in Tavistock, they're celebrating 50 years of junior hockey."
Jutzi says he's had a good relationship with both coaches and they reached out to him this summer after one of their staff left.
He says his time playing as a defenceman will help him on the bench.
"I'm pretty fortunate to join them and get into a good organization and learn from guys that have done very well in the past few seasons. So we're pretty excited. Like I said, we've got a strong group of returning players and we've added a few pieces here and there as well, and we're just looking forward to getting the ball rolling."
Jutzi joined the Braves after playing 21 games for the ECHL's Maine Mariners last year.
The Braves are in the middle of pre-season, which wraps up on September 7th.
