One of the biggest annual fundraisers for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Woodstock and District is drawing closer.
WOODSTOCK -- Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Woodstock's 26th Annual Tastings event goes Friday night at Quality Hotel and Suites.
Kristen Ralph, case worker and fundraising and marketing assistant with Big Brothers and Big Sisters says their annual Tasting's event has become one of the biggest fundraising events Big Brothers and Big Sisters puts on every year.
The fundraiser is a chance to sample local cuisine, wines and brews all with live entertainment.
This Friday's Tastings 2014 event also includes a penny sale, along with a live auction and a silent auction with all money raised going back to Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Woodstock and District.
In honour of this year's Tastings event, organizers are trying something new with a couple of items. An auction before the event that will continue into the actual event, allowing you to also bid on site.
Some of the auction items up for grabs include tickets to anywhere where WestJet flies, a Stratford Festival theatre package and an opportunity to co-host the Heart FM Mornings for one day with Lainger and Liz.
All money raised stays local, in the Woodstock and District area, and goes directly to programs designed to facilitate life-changing relationships that empower and inspire children and youth to reach their full potential, both as individuals and citizens.
Ralph says planning for Tastings starts early each year.
"It takes a lot of organizing, we generally start getting in touch with our partners and restaurants and wineries in January, so we do start very early letting them know when the date is so we can really nurture those relationships through getting them to come out."
Tastings 2014 is Friday May 9th from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Quality Hotel & Suites, 580 Bruin Blvd in Woodstock.
Advance tickets are available for $40 at the Big Brothers and Big Sisters office, Quality Hotel and Suites, Merrifield Bookshop, Record Works or Eden Bella Boutique.
Tickets are being being sold for $50 at the door.
