Some troubling news from Canada's Chief Public Health Officer today.
Dr. Theresa Tam says Canada may soon face the highest COVID-19 infection rates of the entire pandemic.
She says surging Delta variant-related cases may cause a tough winter for some areas, and hospitals may experience increased pressure.
Tam's comments follow a significant spike in cases in Alberta, where Premier Jason Kenney has reintroduced a state of emergency.
The situation in Alberta was also a hot topic for federal party leaders on the campaign trail today.
Conservative Leader Erin O'Toole told supporters if his party was in power, his party would have kept the borders closed in order to prevent a rise in cases.
Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau criticized the province's handling of the pandemic, saying the province's management hasn't helped Alberta residents.
Meanwhile, NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh says both Trudeau and Kenney share responsibility for what has happened in Alberta.
