The local organization is encouraging people to help them hit their 1.2 million-dollar goal, adding every cent raised in Oxford stays in Oxford.
OXFORD COUNTY - Members of United Way Oxford are encouraging members of the community to support their latest fundraising campaign.
This year they are hoping to raise $1.2 million. The organization uses the funds they raise to benefit programs and services based in the county; including walk in counselling and mentorship programs for kids.
Executive Director Kelly Gilson says every dollar counts.
"All of those things cost dollars and our financial support to organizations and programs makes the difference for them to be able to do what they do and to help in our community. It's 100 percent local, every dollar we raise stays here in Oxford County."
Gilson adds donating can be as simple as setting up a payroll donation.
"If you're donating a dollar or two, whatever it may be off your pay people don't even notice and it's there when you do your taxes on your T4."
Workplaces are being encouraged to host a team building fundraisers. Donations are also accepted in person at their Woodstock office (447 Hunter Street), on their website and over the phone by calling 519-539-3851.
