Over a month has passed, but the Canadian Cancer Society of Oxford is still celebrating their largely successful Relay for Life Campaign.
OXFORD COUNTY - The Canadian Cancer Society of Oxford is looking back on a very successful Relay for Life Campaign as they prepare for their next big fundraiser.
The six hour event managed to raise over $133,000 for the cause. This is all thanks to the over 25 teams, 210 participants, 53 survivors, 49 caregivers and 123 volunteers in attendance.
Community Fundraising Specialist Hailey Parliament was excited to see everyone out on June 8th.
"This year we were a little bit down in teams but we were up in participants; which was exciting. Everybody did an incredible job fundraising."
Team ROZ brought in the most fundraising dollars this year with over $15,000.
Parliament says all of the money is being put to good use.
"That goes to the most promising cancer research in Canada. It can be any type of cancer research, it's just the most promising to get the results that we want are the ones that the Canadian Cancer Society funds."
The money will also benefit support services for cancer patients and their family members; including the Wheels of Hope Transportation Service.
The Oxford Branch is now starting to shift gears, preparing for their next big fundraiser in October. The Daffodil Dash - formerly known as Cool Runnings - will be returning to Roth Park.
