Finding a summer job can be hard, but Community Employment Services hopes to help find that perfect opportunity.
OXFORD COUNTY - As school for college and university students is set to break for summer, it's important to find employment and the Community Employment Services in Woodstock will assist you in hopes of landing that coveted job. Employment Consultant, Amy Alkins, thinks earlier is better when it comes to starting the hunt for employment - but for those having trouble Alkins wants students to know they are here to help. "Our Student Centre opens May 1st, though we do work with students all through the year. You are welcome to come in any time, maybe tweak the resume, if they don't have a resume we can assist with safety in the workplace, WHMIS training, tips on how to look for a job and where to go, as well on how to approach employers and interview skills."
When Alkins was asked how the job selection in Oxford County for the summer of 2015 was her response was optimistic. "Very well, we have lots of applications coming in for the summer job service program. We also have some postings that are starting to roll in now too for our student hiring."
Alkins recommends that every student should stop in and benefit from the services. "Make sure to get into the office, or you can visit workinoxford.ca, and that will also show all the positions that we have. Definitely to get into the office and get networking and meet with the student officer that hopefully will get you networking with some employers." The Student centre will continue run all year long and all are encouraged to enjoy the services offered.
