Stoop and Scoop Bylaw Enforced

Not picking up after your animal could land you with a $150 fine from the City of Woodstock.

WOODSTOCK - It's that time of year again when the City of Woodstock's Stoop and Scoop bylaw will be enforced. 

Bylaw Enforcement Officer Greg Rabe says if you are caught not picking up after your animal, you could face a $150 fine. 

Rabe says all of the animal waste that hasn't been picked up during the winter is now showing up as the snow melts. 

"Not only will we get more calls this time of year in relation to the Stoop and Scoop and dog feces, but waste and garbage and debris as well because it's becoming more visible after the snow has melted. That's generally when our calls start to pick up. More than normal? I'd say we are on par this year. "

Rabe says it's important to be a responsible pet owner and pick up after your animal. 

"It's an issue that will never go away unfortunately."
