Two Canadians killed in Ukrainian city of Bakhmut.
Two Canadians have been killed in Ukraine.
According to the CBC, Kyle Porter, 27, of Calgary Alberta, and Cole Zelenco, 21, of St. Catharines, were killed on April 26th as fighting took place near the Ukrainian city of Bakhmut.
The pair were serving with Ukraine's International Legion.
The city, which is located in the eastern Donbas region, has been the site of the longest running and bloodiest battle of the war.
Their commanding officer says the pair were part of a group of soldiers in charge of holding a supply route in the city.
On April 26th, the men were killed when the unit came under fire by Russian troops.
A Go Fund Me campaign has been started to help Zelenco's family to cover funeral and transportation expenses.
So far, the campaign has raised over $45,000.
