Special Air Quality Statement for Oxford County

It's being caused by the smoke from the forest fires in the Prairies.

OXFORD - A special air quality statement has been issued for Oxford County.

Environment Canada says it's being caused by smoke from the forest fires in the Prairies. It's affecting all of southern Ontario, but the conditions should improve from north to south today.

You could experience some mild symptoms in the meantime including a mild cough, headache, or eye, nose and throat irritation. The more serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough.

Those who are most likely to be affected by air pollution include people over 65, pregnant mothers, infants/young children, and those with an existing illness or chronic health condition. The same goes for people who work outside.

It's a good idea to limit your time outside and keep your windows and doors closed as much as possible.
