Southwestern Public Health Addresses Vaccine Availability

The COVID-19 vaccine is not available for the general public yet, but Southwestern Public Health is hoping to have more information about the next round of eligibility sometime soon.

OXFORD/ST.THOMAS/ELGIN - Southwestern Public Health is not accepting COVID-19 vaccine appointments for the general public just yet.

It says vaccine supply is still very limited and only those who meet the criteria can get the shot at this time. This includes high risk health care workers, essential caregivers and those living in long-term care or retirement homes. You can find more information regarding COVID-19 vaccine eligibility online here.

Officials have been working very closely with local healthcare facilities, long-term care homes and retirement homes in to get in touch with those who are eligible for the vaccine. This means if you haven't heard anything from your care facility or health care employer you may not be eligible for the shot at this time.

They're hoping to have more information about the next round of eligibility in the near future. This was all included in a notice that was posted on Southwestern Public Health's social media pages yesterday.
