Winter wallops most of Southern Ontario
Shovels, snow blowers, and those operating them, are getting a workout this morning.
Southern Ontario received a dumping of snow Sunday night with anywhere from 15 to 20 cm of snow falling in our area while others received over 30 cm.
Behind that storm are some bitterly cold temperatures with nasty wind chills.
Environment Canada has issued a Wind Chill warning as temps are expected to drop to -13 this afternoon with wind chills of -26. Tonight's low will dip to -25 with a wind chill of -35.
The weather agency says we could see wind chill values of -41 tomorrow.
High winds will also be a factor today as gusts reach 70 km/h causing blowing and drifting snow.
Motorists are cautioned to watch for black ice on the roads this morning. Environment Canada says the plunge in temperature has caused freezing on the roads.
Brant County is currently under a Flash Freeze warning while some areas to the north and east of us, including Kitchener-Cambridge, are under a Blizzard warning this morning.
The snow and hazardous road conditions has forced the closure of schools and some businesses in Oxford County today. For an updated list of cancellations and closures, you can visit our news story here
