OPP are urging you to slow down this afternoon.
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford OPP are reminding drivers that when it comes to snow, you just don't know what's underneath it.
This comes as snow and freezing rain are in the forecast for this afternoon.
Constable Lisa Narancsik says you need to take your time when heading out.
"Give themselves space while they are driving, in between their vehicle and other vehicles so that if they do have to stop quickly, they are able to do so in a safe manner. Make sure that they have their safety kits with them as well so food, clothing, candles, that type of thing to make sure if they do get stranded they have what they need."
Narancsik says you should never be over confident on the roads. "I think it's great if they have snow tires but accidents happen or collisions happen and we don't know when they are going to occur so we still have to drive in a safe and defensive manner giving ourselves time and space around with other vehicles."
Narancsik says it still surprises her when people don't slow down in the winter.
OPP are reminding drivers not to call 9-1-1 for traffic tips but rather call 511.
