Woodstock's groundhog is in many people's bad books after predicting more winter on the way.
WOODSTOCK - We can expect six more weeks of winter according to Woodstock's own prognosticator.
People gathered at Southgate Centre for the annual prediction, and Mayor Trevor Birtch got the bad news from Chilly Charlie first hand.
"Charlie's predictions have been very accurate in the past although I know that last year he was wrong and I'm sure there's quite a few people in the Friendly City hoping that as well."
Punxsutawney Phil agreed with Charlie's clairvoyance, while Shubenacadie Sam and Wiarton Willie disagree, predicting an early spring.
"I'm not sure if they speak to each other beforehand to see where the sun is shining at what time, but I know that here in Woodstock we're all thankful for that 5'2 rodent."
After breakfast and the prognostication, South Gate also hosted their annual chili cook off. It was a tight race this year for the Judge's vote with Chartwell Oxford Gardens Retirement Residence just edging out local restaurant sixthirtynine. The people's choice award this year went to the South Gate Centre's Local Roots in the Park.
