The Hawkins-Gignac Foundation has donated 35 carbon monoxide alarms and 10 smoke alarms, to a new program offered by the Brant County Fire Department.
BRANT COUNTY - Brant County seniors can now sleep a little easier, thanks to a new program from the Fire Department.
Chief Michael Seth says the Seniors at Home Program provides new smoke and carbon monoxide alarms to elderly residents who may not be able to afford it.
"We will come to your home and provide you with a battery operated smoke and carbon monoxide alarm, if needed. We will also install it for you. This community program allows us to meet seniors in their homes and help assess and resolve fire safety concerns."
The Hawkins-Gignac Foundation has already donated 35 carbon monoxide alarms and 10 smoke alarms to the cause. Seth would like to thank them for their generous contribution.
"The Hawkins-Gignac Foundation and the County of Brant Fire Department have been partners for ten years; promoting the need for working carbon monoxide and smoke alarm. We want to remind everyone that having a working carbon monoxide alarm and smoke alarm in their home may save your life and is required by law."
Those interested in the program can contact the fire department, by calling 519-442-4500.
