WOODSTOCK - VON Sakura House now has it's very own wind phone.
It's an unconnected telephone that people can use to call their loved ones who have passed away.
The wind phone originated in Japan back after the 2011 earthquake and tsunami. They're always placed in a quiet area, so the conversations remain private and you have a moment to reflect.
There are more than 120 wind phones located across Canada and you can find the one at Sakura House in the back garden.
Manager of Fund Development Brittany Bratt says it would not be possible without a $200,000 donation from Bill Vink and his late wife Corrie.
"The generosity from Bill and Corrie allows us to continue to ensure end-of-life care is available for those who need it at absolutely no cost to the patients or their family. The wind phone is a symbol of the continuum of care that we offer at VON through out programs and services and the generosity of our community that helps make that care possible."
