Woodstock Police ask everyone to stay off the train tracks after getting reports of people taking selfies and even staging wedding photos.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Police are reminding residents to stay off the train tracks.
The trains are still very active in Woodstock and they can come without much notice. Constable Nikki VanLeeuwen says they get a lot of complaints about people walking on the tracks or even taking photos.
"It's very scary, very dangerous, and people have lost their lives because of it. I think that probably in the moment if you are having pictures taken or you're having wedding photos taken that people aren't thinking about the potential dangers and I think we need to have a conversation about this so we don't have a tragedy in our city."
VanLeeuwen notes this is a very dangerous practice and is really concerned about a new selfie trend where teens are trying to take photos of themselves on the train tracks.
"The tracks in the city, we have live railway trains every several minutes going up and down our railway tracks so it's very dangerous and on the other side of it, if we get a call that someone is on the tracks, we call the railway and they shut them down and it cost millions and millions of dollars to do that."
