City to hold second nomination for French Separate School Board Trustee Wednesday
WOODSTOCK - If you've ever wanted to be a trustee for the French Separate School Board, now is your opportunity.
Municipal nominations closed Friday with no one signing up for the trustee role, causing the City of Woodstock to hold another nomination period for that position only Wednesday.
Deputy City Clerk Amy Humphries says nomination papers are available in both official languages from the City.
"There's links on our webpage as well to the School Board website so if they have some questions and are wondering how things runs specifically for that school board, they can check out that link and there is lots of contact information on the school board's website as well."
"The previous candidate Lucille has been doing it for years and years and years and she had said that she wasn't going to be running. It's a position that's been acclaimed for some time so now we are looking for somebody new."
Humphries says if no one comes forward the seat will be declared vacant.
"After the election the French Catholic School Board, if they have enough elected to hold their first meeting, they will hold a meeting and attempt to appoint a candidate. If they don't have enough to hold that first meeting, we will be required to have a bi-election. If for whatever reason they do have enough to hold the meeting and can't appoint anyone, we will also be required to hold a bi-election."
The nomination period will be open Wednesday from 9-2pm.
More information and nomination forms can be found on the City's website
