Zorra Township councillor Marcus Ryan has been asked to speak at a Q&A in Alymer about saving rural schools.
ZORRA TOWNSHIP - A local councillor has been asked to share his expertise on saving rural schools at a Town Hall Q and A in Aylmer.
Zorra Township councillor Marcus Ryan will be at the event to talk about the work they did to save AJ Baker public school when the School Board wanted to shut it down. He tells Heart FM what he will be talking about at the meeting.
"I have sent them tons of research, both research that we used specifically to save AJ Baker and also research that I have come across since in helping communities around the province and research the Canadian Alliance Against School Closures has access to. Tonight I'm largely going to speak to them and say the current provincial funding formula is a flawed formula the Ontario Public School Boards Association has taken this position to that the funding formula needs to be changed."
The meeting is happening tonight at the German Canadian Club in Aylmer starting at 7 pm. Susan Mackenzie of the Canadian Alliance Against School Closures will be the key note speaker.
