With school just around the corner, registration for After School Programs starts this week in Brant County. New guidelines, health and safety measures and programming have been developed for the safety of participants and staff.
BRANT COUNTY - Starting this week, Brant County will be offering registration for After School Programs.
Acting Director of Recreation and Community Development Stacey Ellins says safety is their main priority.
“We are very excited to welcome our friends back to the After School Program. With careful guidance from the Brant County Health Unit, we will offer After School Programs with safety as our top priority. We have worked closely with the Brant County Health Unit to create a variety of protocols to support a safe setting and provide much needed support to
working caregivers.”
In accordance with the Brant County Health Unit and the local school boards, new guidelines, health and safety measures and programming have been developed for the safety of participants and staff.
The County says additional hand washing and cleaning practices will also be implemented.
Ellins adds there will be less children in each group to allow for a safer environment.
“In order to promote a safe and fun environment, we will have fewer children in each group and we will focus on outdoor programming, weather permitting. We will have a number of proactive measures in place such as contact tracing, promoting physical distancing in our activities and the use of face masks for children, when required.”
Families will be given the new safety protocols before the program begins.
She says they'll keep on working with local health officials and local school boards.
“We will continue to work closely with the local health officials and school boards to assess the safety of offering the After School Programs."
