Runners will be flying down the Tillsonburg Airport runway as they take part in a 10K, 5K, or kiddie trot to support kids from low income families.
TILLSONBURG - Runners can try a new kind of course at the Tillsonburg Airport for Run the Runway.
The race is going into its second year and offers a 10K and 5K route along with a kiddie trot according to Recreation Program Supervisor with the Town of Tillsonburg Jessica Melo.
"It's an opportunity for any residents to come out and run on the Town of Tillsonburg's airport runway and it earns money for our youth who are registering for programs who come from low income families."
Although its still a relatively new race, it is attracting far more people.
"Our first one was quite small - so we only had about 50 and most of them were residents of Tillsonburg. We already have surpassed that for registrations and we have people coming from Woodstock, Ingersoll, Norfolk, and registrations even coming in from London."
Pre-registration is $35 for the 5K and $40 for the 10K. You can register at the Tillsonburg Community Centre, call 519-688-9011 or email jmelo@tillsonburg.ca
Melo says you can also register on the day of the race. "It's a little bit more expensive - so Day-of registration is about $15 more. So we are hoping to have people registered beforehand, and that way you also get the runner's bag." If you register by 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 9 you can still receive a bag.
Run the Runway takes place at the airport on Friday June 10 at 6:30 p.m.
Oxford County Animal Rescue will also be on site with a few dogs searching for their forever homes.
