It's been a busy morning at the Oxford County courthouse, as the John Robinson murder trial continued, hearing from three witnesses. Robinson is accused of murdering of Clifford Fair. The day began with the cross examination of the owner of the apartment Robinson lived at during the alleged incident. The jury later heard testimony from Jessica Wittington's husband Chris Whittington. He told the court he had spoke to Robinson on the phone once and had driven him home one night. Whittington said Robinson was chatty and spoke in an insecure and jealous tone about his girlfriend at the time Amy Gilbert. In the 15 minute conversation Wittington recalls Robinson saying he wanted to quit his job so he could keep an eye on Amy. The court also heard from Amy's adoptive father, George Gilbert. Gilbert told the court his first impression of Robinson was that he was a girlish guy who was soft spoken. He continued to say he got along well with Robinson at first, and so did the family. Gilbert remarked "Robinson was so small he could fit in my grandchild's car seat." He recalled getting a phone call on what he believes to be October 2nd 2008 from Amy. He told the court Amy was hysterical and said she had blood on her. The court heard that he asked to speak to "Doug", the name Amy introduced Robinson by. Gilbert said he could barley hear Robinson over Amy's hysteria and her screaming "tell him the truth." After the phone call Gilbert rushed to his daughters' house and discovered blood on the floor from the microwave to the wall. Robinson said he had gotten mad and punched the microwave, according to Gilbert. The court heard Amy had blood on her shirt in the shoulder area and had a black eye. Gilbert also admitted that alcoholism has been an ongoing problem with his daughter. He also said the last time he saw his daughter was two weeks ago at the courthouse, and prior to that was during her incarceration. The trial continues this afternoon.
