OPP are warning the public to take some extra precautions today as some roads experience flooding.
Several roads in the region have been closed today because of flooding.
In Woodstock, Public Works has closed down a stretch of Highway 2 towards the west end of Dundas Street in Woodstock because of flooding. Over in Perth County, police have closed several roads due to flooding.
OPP are providing the public with the following safety messages if you do have to travel today.
- Turn on headlights during any inclement weather, regardless of time of day. Tail lights do not automatically engage when headlights are not used.
- Reduce speeds on wet road ways; stopping distance increases on wet or icy roads and extra space must be provided between vehicles.
- If you begin to hydroplane, look and steer in the direction you wish to go, take your foot off of the accelerator. Do NOT panic. Remain calm.
- Plan ahead-check with local media and municipality websites for road closures.
- Call police if you encounter an unsafe road condition.
