Remembrance Day Ceremony Well Attended in Woodstock

Despite the cold temperatures, many people lined the streets to remember the veterans.

WOODSTOCK - It was a blustery Remembrance Day ceremony in Woodstock.

There were many people at the Cenotaph to pay their respects. President of Legion Branch 55, Gary Moon, was pleased with the turnout.

"I thought it was pretty good to see the people out due to the weather and everything else in support of the veterans, remembering the sacrifices they made to keep this country the way it is today."

Moon says why it is important to remember all who fought for our freedoms.

"The youth need to understand the sacrifices of those people who were here before them. If you don't know what's happened in the past, you don't know what is on today, you don't know where you're going tomorrow in the future."

Moon says that, besides attending the ceremony, people can volunteer at the local Legion and help with the various events put on to support veterans.
