"We are so excited with our total, we have raised $141,867.00"
It turned out to be a record setting year for the Walk for Alzheimer's events in Oxford County.
Executive Director for the Alzheimer Society of Oxford County Shelly Green is proud to announce the final totals.
"We are so excited with our total, we have raised $141,867.00. That is the most we have ever raised in the 22 years of having the walks and we have surpassed our goal. So we are just really excited and so very thankful to our community from our sponsors and donors, our walkers and volunteers, everybody comes out every year to help support our walks, which in turns support our programs and services here in Oxford County and without that support we would not be able to do what we do."
Green says all of the money raised locally will stay local and will go to support many of the wonderful programs offered by the Alzheimer Society of Oxford County.
"The money that we raised through our Walk for Alzheimer's stays locally and that money is used towards programs and services that we offer to people living with a diagnosis of dementia or Alzheimer's disease. We also serve people before their dementia diagnosis, people who are concerned about their memory, people who have mild cognitive impairment, people in their early stages of dementia through the disease journey as well as their family members, the general public and those who are working with people with dementia or Alzheimer's."
