It will be cowboy hats and lassos at the Woodstock Fairgrounds Friday and Saturday
WOODSTOCK - It's a chance to get a taste of the Calgary Stampede at home.
The Woodstock RAM Rodeo is set to kick off Friday and will offer several events including steer wrestling and bull riding.
Organizer Matt McGuinty says all of the proceeds are going to The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada - Ontario Chapter.
"They grant wishes to kids with life threatening illnesses 0-17. Basically you can apply online. They have never denied an eligible child a wish. There's a lot of great stuff that can be done just to kind of put a little bit more hope and fun into these kids lives who could really use it."
McGuinty says it's going to be a full scale rodeo.
"It's got bull riding, bareback riding which is kind of the horse with and without saddles, that's saddle bronc as well, we've got steer wrestling and then we've got some speed events like barrel racing and pole bending as well which are like races with the horses and it's just fantastic."
McGuinty says it's a great family event with lots of action.
"You get out there, there's going to be food, pony rides. On Saturday there's a free kids rodeo. Friday the rodeo starts at 7 o'clock, and the doors and vendors open at 5:30pm then on Saturday the rodeo starts at 2pm, the kids rodeo is at 1pm."
McGuinty says the show will include local performers as well as others from across the County and the United States.
Tickets for the event are $24 at the door with discounts for families available online.
