R.I.D.E checks can happen anywhere at any time, even on the coldest night of the year.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Police braved the cold weather alert on Saturday night to conduct several roaming R.I.D.E checks in the Friendly City.
Constable Nikki VanLeeuwen tells Heart FM they hosted a number of roaming ride checks throughout the city on Saturday night.
"We had hundreds of vehicles go through the RIDE program. We administered one road side tests and the person passed so there were no arrests and no charges this RIDE."
She says it was great to see that everyone had found a responsible way of getting home
"I think for the most part people are doing family things together but you still have people that will be going for parties or out for dinner and have a few drinks too many so we just wanted to be out there, and be visible, and educate the public yet again about being smart and choosing a safe ride."
She adds they were really happy with the results and reminds everyone that R.I.D.E checks can pop up at any time during the year.
"We didn't this time so we're really pleased. Usually we do see people that they're children are not properly in their booster seats and car seats, so we're really happy with the results over the weekend."
