Helping those in need of a dog guide get one free of charge.
TILLSONBURG - It takes $25,000 to train one dog guide.
The Purina Walk for Dog Guides is set to hit Tillsonburg Saturday to raise money for Lion's Foundation of Canada Dog Guides which provides a dog guide at no cost to those in need.
Event Contact Terry Fleming says there are six types of dog guides which include Canine Vision Dog, hearing ear, service, seizure response, autism assistance and diabetic alert .
"You know, there's so many needs out there for these types of dogs therefore that's one reason and the main reason we are doing this walk. For awareness."
Fleming says it's a family friendly event.
"Full participation from anybody that wants to bring their dogs out for a walk and they take pledges, there's prizes and games for the kids, demonstrations from some of the participants."
The walk is scheduled for Saturday at 10am at the Tillsonburg Fairgrounds. Registration is at 9am.
