A first nations group is staging two protests one in Haldimand County and Hamilton to pressure the federal government for an inquest into murdered and missing aboriginal women.
HALDIMAND COUNTY- OPP is warning area motorists to be aware of potential traffic delays today along Highway 6. Members of the Six Nations Men's Fire and their supporters are staging protests in Haldimand County and Hamilton to pressure the federal government for an inquest into missing and murdered aboriginal women. Police say protest activities may periodically delay or interrupt the normal flow of traffic on area highways and area roads. Motorists are being advised of possible delays at Highway. 6 and Greens Road (Haldimand Rd.66) and Hwy. 6 in Haggersville. The OPP is also working to minimize the impact on the traveling public, where possible.
Motorists should check in advance for road advisory information and monitor local media for the latest updates. Traffic is being diverted southbound at Green Road (Rd 66) and northbound at Hagersville to commercial traffic. All other detours at 3rd and 5th Line.
