Proposed Water and Wastewater Rates

The public will be asked for their input on proposed water and wastewater rates for 2017 - 2020.

OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County Public Works has presented proposed water and wastewater rates for 2017 to 2020 to Oxford County Council.

Director Robert Walton says some places may see slight increases in the water and wastewater bills.

"In Woodstock between 2016 and 2017 that customer would see a 3.4% increase combined water and wastewater."

In 2017 Tillsonburg would also see an increase of 1.8%; Ingersoll's would go up 1.5%, while Norwich's would go up slightly by 0.6%. On the other hand, Plattsville would see a 13.4% decrease, Mount Elgin's would go down 11.8%, and Innerkip's would decline 18% in that same year.

Walton adds nothing is set in stone yet; Public Works just wants members of county council to bring the proposed rates to the public.

"We're asking them to receive the information that we presented to them and go to the public to consult with them through meetings, social media, and advertisement to comment on these rates and then we'll bring back a report to them in January."
