Some people of Princeton implore the County to intervene in their waste water woes.
PRINCETON - Oxford County Council is being asked to consider a municipal waste water servicing solution for the Village of Princeton.
All of the waste water systems in Princeton are private and 74 percent of them are past their due date, meaning they can only be replaced by advanced systems. Resident Bev Beaton shared some of his concerns with a presentation to council last Wednesday. He tells Heart FM there is obviously an environmental problem as well.
"All the reports have indicated that there is contamination for these systems entering into the upper aquifers, which are now polluted as evidenced by a water study and two waste water studies."
Beaton says the County is the one who is best equipped to deal with this problem and the burden should not fall to the residents of Princeton.
"There has been a peer review study done by a developer, done by a recognized engineering firm that has offered an affordable, technologically advanced waste water servicing solution that will satisfy the requirements of the community."
