It's a major award win for everyone involved in taking "The Pledge" against bullying. It has won one of a dozen "National Exemplary Bullying Prevention Program Award" in the US. It's the first Canadian program to win the award and Julie Maltby with the Thames Valley District School Board says it's an honour they hope to collect. "It's being presented at a Conference in Orlando, Florida next month. So we're still trying to figure out if someone will be able to go and collect that in person, or if we'll just have it mailed. This came as quite a surprise and on short notice." Maltby says "The Pledge" will be back next year, and may be adopted by other school boards, as the Ministry of Education has taken an interest. "The Pledge" to end bullying was taken by all staff and students across local schools in November. Some 70-thousand pledges were also taken on-line.
