The Norfolk County OPP released a statement for the amount of charges laid over the Pottahawk Sunday weekend.
NORFOLK COUNTY - Now that Pottahawk Sunday has passed, the Norfolk County OPP released a statement about the event and how it went.
Police stationed on land laid 32 charges under the Highway Traffic Act.
Police marine operators stated that 1 person was charged with impaired operation, 10 charges were handed out under the Canada Shipping Act, and 12 under the Liquor License and Control Act.
Inspector Andy Tait, Detachment Commander - Norfolk County OPP, on staying safe during these events.
"This year's event saw hundreds of boats descend on Pottahawk with no major issues being reported. The OPP would like to remind everyone during events like this and certainly throughout the entire year, there is no safe level of alcohol consumption when you operate a vessel or motor vehicle. Think ahead and be safe. Your life and the lives of others depend on it."
The OPP are attributing the lack of serious incidents to all the emergency services who were on site, able to provide immediate care and ensure safety.
