Looks like Canada Post will deliver Christmas cards before the big day next week.
CANADA - It's back to work for the 55,000 striking postal workers.
Canada Post operations will resume at 8:00 a.m. local time tomorrow after the Canada Industrial Relations Board ordered a return to work. Labour Minister Steven MacKinnon directed the order on Friday if a deal between Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers wasn't doable by year's end.
Two days of hearings were held over the weekend, which determined that the negotiations were indeed at an impasse. The board extended the union contracts through May in response, to allow more time for the bargaining process.
Canada Post and the union have agreed on a five percent wage increase and it's retroactive to the day after the collective agreements expired.
