He says he'll be visiting with President Donald Trump soon
OTTAWA - The new Prime Minister of Canada took to the podium at his first press conference.
Mark Carney took the time to speak with the media and discuss his plans as he settles into the role of Prime Minister. He said he will be taking a trip to the United States next week to have a meeting with President Donald Trump. The talks are expected to be about the trade war Trump has with Canada currently, and Carney is hoping that talks could spark a chance of negotiating a new trade and security pact with the U.S.
Carney announced that he will swear in his cabinet the week of May 12th, and King Charles will take a trip to the nation's capital to deliver the Throne Speech in Parliament near the end of the month.
