Oxford's PJHL teams sit in the top three of their division standings.
PJHL - It was a mixed weekend for Oxford County's Junior C hockey teams.
The Woodstock Navy Vets crushed the Wellesley Applejacks 6-2 on Friday, with defenceman Charley Barnes scoring four powerplay goals.
However, the Vets didn't get the result they were looking for when they battled the Norwich Merchants at Nor-Del Arena on Sunday. Norwich shutout Woodstock 4-0 in the end, with Tyler Bouck making 39 saves for the Vets.
It was a comeback victory for the Merchants, after they suffered a 5-4 loss in overtime to the Tavistock Braves on Friday. The Braves went on to lose to the Dorchester Dolphins 9-4 on Saturday.
The Applejacks currently lead the Doherty Division standings with 16 points. The Braves sit in second place with 15 points, and the Navy Vets and Merchants are tied for third with 14 point each. They followed by the New Hamburg Firebirds with 11 points, the Dolphins with 10 points, the Hespeler Shamrocks with 9 points, and the Paris Titans with 8 points.
Over in the Yeck Division, the Thameford Trojans suffered a 4-2 loss to the North Middlesex Stars on Friday.
Thamesford is tied with the Aylmer Spitfires for second place in the division standings with 16 points. They are only one point behind the first place Stars.
