Police are telling residents to hang up immediately if you get an automated call from someone telling you that your Social Insurance Number has been compromised.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Police are warning the public about a phone scam happening in the Friendly City.
Several residents have reported calls by someone claiming their Social Insurance Number has been compromised. The automated call then asks for your SIN number, your address and the amount of money you have in your bank account. If you receive a call similar in nature do not confirm your personal information and hang up immediately.
October is Cyber Security Awareness Month and WPS would like to remind everyone to be cautious of unknown callers and never give out personal information to an unknown source.
