A fentanyl information session is being held this Wednesday at the Thamesford Library.
THAMESFORD - Oxford County OPP and the Township of Zorra are teaming up to have a real talk about Fentanyl.
They are hosting the free information session coming up this week on Wednesday March 7th from 7-9 pm at the Thamesford Library. Constable Laura Lee Brown says these drugs are a real problem in our community.
"For years Fentanyl has been a legal prescribed medication that has taken on a life of it's own within the drug subculture and unfortunately has become quite an issue in our community."
Detective Constable Chris Auger of the OPP Drug Enforcement Unit for an update on what prescription drugs including Fentanyl and opioids that are currently being sold on the street to and by the public, their effects, the current trends, from both a public and law enforcement perspective, on this new era of substances.
Oxford County Detachment Commander Inspector Tony Hymers says he hopes to see a lot of people at this information session next week.
"Fentanyl has become a common word we hear on the news and in our everyday lives. I hope the citizens of the Oxford County are able to come out and learn about this life threatening drug that can affect all of us."
