Parents with kids at Royal Roads Public School are frustrated with the lack of parking along Princess Park Road.
INGERSOLL - The town of Ingersoll is looking into ways to improve parking on Princess Park Road, once again.
As of September 1st the town had banned parking along the "S" shaped street due to safety concerns, especially when parents would pick up and drop off their children at Royal Roads Public School.
Terri-Lynn Oliver has children who attend Royal Roads Public. She is not the only parent who is concerned with the lack of parking in the area.
"We had 111 names signed on the petition of people also concerned about the current parking restrictions and looking to have some of the parking reinstated. Not one person spoke to believed that all of the parking being returned was a favourable solution."
Road Roads Public currently has 401 students enrolled and there is a small staff only parking lot located on the school grounds.
Mayor Ted Comiskey is hoping to discuss a solution with the Thames Valley District School Board.
"They have to come to the table with the parents, with the town, and we have to solve this problem for the safety and wellbeing of everybody."
Town staff will be conducting a report looking into ways to improve the parking situation. Possible solutions include reinstating some of the parking along the street, turning the street into a one way street, or creating a drop off point behind the school with the school board's blessing. The report will be brought back to council next month.
