Michael Heath is a Paralympian looking to make his dreams come true in London England. Heath began swimming at a young age, and has loved the sport ever since. Heath has competed all across Canada, as well as California and Greece. Support for Heath was felt Thursday at a send off party which featured family, friends, his swim team, and many others. Heath's biggest fan, his mom Kelly talked about how excited she is for Michael, "As a mom I am proud of what Michael has accomplished. To see him grow into this wonderful young man and athlete is just something you cannot describe." Michael will compete in the 100 metre Breaststroke, 100 metre Backstroke, and the 200 Freestyle. He only found out recently that he was going to be a member of the Canadian Paralympic team. He talked about the support from his family, "It's amazing, its been nice to have them support me on my journey to London. It will be amazing to have them there with me in London." Michael has been working with his coach Joni Maertens since 2005. She told Heart FM that she is very proud of how far Michael has come. The Paralympics take place between August 30th and end September 8th.
