It was a full day of brainstorming as stakeholders from across Oxford County came together to discuss better transportation. The United Way of Oxford encouraged those in attendance to think of ways that transportation could be improved for those in rural areas, without access to transportation. Each of the ideas proposed had to include something "doable" in the first year. The United Way Executive Director Kelly Gilson says that "moving ideas into action" was the intent of the seminar. "It's really about some short-term, impact opportunities. And then of course it is a long term equation and there will be work required for many, many years. But we want to make sure there will be something where we can walk away and actually start to implement." Some of those ideas include moving more services out to the people, as well as getting rid of the transportation-employment barrier. All of the ideas given will be summarized into a report for further action.
