OXFORD COUNTY - The Oxford Shopping Channel has been launched just in time for the Holiday season.
It features a number of video's showcasing local businesses and their products. Community Economic Development Coordinator with Community Futures Oxford Lindsay Wilson says everyone is encouraged to check it out...
"You will see the videos have two themes. The ones we have been able to upload already were filmed in the Scotch and Lace studio, we had people come and just tell us a little bit about their business. Most of those were online businesses, not all but most. We also have a separate series were we feature a downtown in our community. In those ones we are asking people to get out safely in these downtown's that are right here in Oxford County and become more familiar with these shops."
Wilson says they are featuring 6 downtown's and those videos will roll out on Thursday. She adds it is more important than ever to shop local and support local business during the pandemic.
"It can be tempting to have something shipped to your door the next day, but there are so many safe and convenient options right here in Oxford County and these are the businesses that have been giving back and making all these changes to make it safe for us to visit these places. They would love to see you, that is what we heard most often, the businesses want to succeed and we all need to make a living, but they also just really miss seeing these faces. So if people can get out, they are really looking forward to seeing everyone over the holidays."
This project was made possible thanks to the combined efforts of Community Futures Oxford, Rural Oxford Economic Development, Tourism Oxford and the Future Oxford Legacy Fund.
It was also done with the help of the BIA's in Ingersoll, Woodstock, Norwich and Tillsonburg BIAs and the Thamesford Business Association and the Tavistock Chamber of Commerce.
You can find the shopping channel online through the Supporting Oxford web site.
