The Woodstock Police charged 91 drivers in a week for various offences during the #putdownthephone campaign.
Woodstock Police officers charged 91 drivers in one week.
This was the first part of their #PutDownthePhone initiative. 12 people were charged for distracted driving, 57 for speeding, 2 for parking bylaws, 2 for other Provincial offences, and 18 for highway traffic act offences.
The idea is to encourage drivers to slow down and keep their eyes on the road and hands on the wheel. They plan to continue this program throughout the summer, with special focus right before the long weekends.
They were also out during the weekend with the RIDE program and checked 700 vehicles, giving one person a 3 day licence suspension after they registered as an alert during the breath sample.
