The OPP are reminding motorists they will be out in full force this long weekend. Also Constable Ed Sanchuk shares an important safety message in regards to wearing your PFD's.
OXFORD COUNTY - The OPP will be out in full force this long weekend.
Constable Ed Sanchuk says they will keep a close eye on the roads, but they really want to promote safety.
"We want everyone to be safe and we want everyone to make great memories, nothing is going to be marred by tragedies. We want to make sure that people pack an ample amount of patience, you are going to run into some traffic or construction, so please do me a favour, you are going to arrive to your destination and we want you to get to your destination but more importantly we want you to get home safely to your family. If you are not putting your safety as a priority and putting others in danger, I can assure you, you will be stopped and you are going to be ticketed by the officers. So do me a favour, take your time, have a lot of patience and go make some great family memories and more importantly get home safe."
OPP will be targeting speeders, distracted drivers, people not wearing seatbelts and impaired drivers this long weekend. Constable Sanchuk also did a safety video where he demonstrates how difficult it is to put on a life jacket when you are already in the water.
