The OPP laid 60 charges in relation to the slow down and move over law, after conducting a blitz on Highway 401 over the past four days.
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford OPP officers have been cracking down on drivers not following the slow down and move over law on Highway 401.
Whenever you come across an emergency vehicle parked on the side of the road with its lights on, you're supposed to slow down and move over to the left if you can safely do so.
Shawn Kivell with the Highway Safety Division posted a video on the OPP West Region Twitter page this morning.
"We have had over 60 charges of motorists failing to move over for our officers, but over the last four days, I have noticed a large amount of you easily maneuvering over to the middle lane well in advance. That tells me that you're paying attention and I appreciate that."
The slow down and move over law not only applies to police cruisers, ambulances, and fire trucks, but also tow trucks.
