WATERFORD - The driver of a transport truck was charged by police after she was caught using her cell phone on Old Highway 24 near Waterford.
Police say the 61 year old woman was charged with distracted driving on Monday afternoon. Norfolk OPP Detachment Commander, Inspector Joseph Varga says the incident proves that it is not just young people who are distracted drivers.
"Distracted driving is not just an issue among young drivers. Men and women of all ages drive distracted. In 2018, the OPP laid more than 13,500 Distracted Driving charges and investigated collisions where 55 people died as a result of driver inattention. Do the smart thing, do the right thing, put down the phone and focus your attention on driving."
