Briefs include a 9 year old getting inappropriate messages on their tablet, a RAV4 stolen in Plattsville and several vehicles damaged and curse words written in mustard in Ingersoll.
NORFOLK COUNTY - The OPP are asking parents to be cautious after a 9 year old child was approached by a stranger while using an app on a tablet.
The child's parent called police after the stranger asked the child for inappropriate photographs on Friday afternoon.
Parents are being reminded and encouraged to supervise their youth in the virtual world just as they would in the real world. The following tips are being offered to help keep young people safer online:
- Set rules about household internet use
- Always keep computers in high traffic areas
- Know your child's user name/passwords and contacts
- Realize that anything posted online is permanent
- Protect your passwords and make them hard to guess
- Be careful with webcams - your image can be captured
- Don't say anything online you wouldn't say in real life
