The goal is to cut down on the road damage to Township and County Roads during the Spring thaws.
The Oxford OPP will be teaming up with the MTO to really crack down on weight restrictions on our roadways for two months.
They will be running the blitz between March 1st and April 30th.
The goal is to cut down on the road damage to Township and County Roads during the Spring laws. Officers will be checking the weight capacity of transport trucks on local roads. The by-laws includes that no person shall, during the months of March and April:
- Operate a dual axle tank truck, used exclusively for the transportation of liquid or gaseous heating fuel, and no two axle truck, used exclusively for the transportation of livestock feed, on a highway were any axle transmits to the highway a weight in excess of 7500 kilograms.
- Operate a commercial motor vehicle or trailer where any axle of such commercial vehicle or trailer transmits to the highway a weight in excess of 5000 kilograms.
- Operate a vehicle having a carrying capacity in excess of 1000 kilograms other than a motor vehicle or trailer where the weight upon any millimetre in the width of tire exceeds five kilograms.
Oxford County enforces the weight by-laws every Spring. Zorra Townships by-law starts on February 15th, while the other townships start on March 1st.
